The Mind At Work
I liked how this chapter demonstrated the struggles and hard work of the author's mother. This section also showed the actuality of how difficult it is and can be for waiters and waitresses, giving a new found respect for otherwise thought as "low class" jobs. I can relate to this story because my mother is also a waitress and I have much respect for her and what she does. Some people don't realize how tough and stressful a job like that can be, and i think this chapter does a decent job of giving the reader some insight to that.

My Freshman Year
In this section, the author starts to look a little deeper into the lives and relationships of the students. She is very descriptive and gives a good visual of social life and interaction within the college community. The author states at one point about how students tend to stray away from clubs and organizations because they don't like to have their life constricted by that activity. I definitely agree with this because personally I am currently on a sports team and also in the choir here at Bloomsburg. There are many times when I think about how much more breathing room I would have if I cut those things out of my schedule and it seems like it would be pretty relaxing. If I didn't have such love for both of these things, I too would most likely stray away from most activities and organizations.
